OK, I bit the bullet and started that pathetic piece of dreck. I made it to the 3rd day before I threw up in my mouth just a bit. Then I just zipped through it so I could read the words without actually listening to the tonally challenged lizard brains attempting to sing. Oh. My. God. What universe do these idiots inhabit? Why, oh why won’t the rapture just come and take these fools away so we can get started fixing all their fuck-ups?

I made it through the whole thing, albeit with the volume pretty low. But I think the only reason I could do it is that I was in shock that anyone could believe this crap. What reality do they live in? With the makeup of the crowd (10 women and 2 men), I wondered if they could be part of the polygamy cult.

it fails on several levels as a song parody.
even given that conservative premises would be the basis of the jokes, those very premises fall short of reasons to bemoan liberals.
i used to write song parodies for a living, and the holidays were the easiest time to do so. however, there are some rules that must be followed. applying the same number of syllables in your parody line to match the number of syllables in the actual line of the song is one hard and fast rule. this parody destroys that rule on the 2nd day.
the only line that came close to being funny was “al franken ranting,” and even then the scancion was taken from the second half of the song (”seven swans a’swimming, six geese a’laying…”) when it should have been 3 syllables to fit with “three french hens.”
but that wasn’t the worst of it. the singing was atrocious, and the girls who were doing the 4th, 3rd and 2nd day were so off key at to destroy any good will the kids who were in the upper numbers may have provided early on in each verse.
and, the 11th day was so poorly written as to accidentally turn around and insult the conservatives, not the liberals:
“…the liberals gave to me: 11 percent approval.”
implying that what ever the liberals had done, the conservatives had wound up with 11% approval. which is true, but not what the kids wanted to say.
but most of all, any song parodist knows that the key to a 12 days of xmas parody lies in the 5th day. it’s the line in the song with the biggest emphasis, it’s the division between the multi-syllables of the upper numbers and the simplenss and lightness of the lower 4 numbers, it’s the line with the greatest need for good singing control, and, ergo, it needs to be the funniest line.
even if we give them credit for making fun of hillary’s woodstock museum, the 8 syllables forced into the 4 syllables of 5 golden rings is just too clumsy to be funny, and not clumsy enough to be funny for its clumsiness.
also, i don’t know of any meme, false or otherwise, that has liberals demanding to eliminate secret ballots. they might as well had said liberals gave to me no blue pants.
