People Like Us
Thanks to Burnsy for pointing me to these clips, which demonstrate what it would be like to live in a world where Republicans get everything they want.

New England Holocaust Memorial
The version inscribed at the New England Holocaust Memorial in Boston, Massachusetts reads:
They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

From the news.
“If McCain Loses, the Terrorists Win
McCain: I “worry” that al Qaeda will attack in Iraq to tip election against me.”
Personally, I think it is the purpose of al Qaeda et al to keep the Republicans in power, since without them they are marginalized. When they “fight” against a group who demonize them, they become stronger. It is difficult for them to fight against a group who is willing to engage them in non-violent ways. Strength can be shown in many ways.
I want this country to once again show a diplomatic, fair, honest, and true face so that the same will be mirrored back to us. A more Peaceful World is what we all we want. My way is a Peaceful Middle Way.

How is this statement from the candidate himself much different from what Iowa’s King has said about Al Qaeda wanting Obama to win?

As one commenter notes,
Think globally, act locally.
Which seems to be what Barack is all about.

Fascism?
Why do you think this is what Republicans’ want?
What has the government done to you personally or anyone that you know that warrants a serious comparison to Nazi Germany?
What has changed? More security at air ports?
I am not a huge McCain guy either, but this sort of Reductio ad Hitlerum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reductio_ad_Hitlerum hyperbole just lowers the level of discourse.

I’m not a McCain/Bush fan but to compare someone to Nazi Germany is disgusting and shows a lack of regard to those that were persecuted.

On November 4, as Obama was celebrated for his election by 240,000 supporters at Chicago’s Grant Park, there was one man watching the event on television 10,000km away who was thrilled to hear the news. In a Tokyo apartment, his wife
