We Will Bury You!
Oh, no, no. Balloon Juice and Sadly, No! think they can out-wank us all with bad 80’s synthpop.
I own this category, bitches. And don’t you forget it.
Yeah? You like that, boys?
Well, have another.
And another.

Ma’am this might be a little grisly for a lady like yourself. Perhaps you ought to avert your eyes.

Alright, you force me see yer OMD and raise you a Klaus Nomi… http://youtube.com/watch?v=gma5IUNMTn0
BTW, until hearing Mr. Nomi’s version, I didn’t understand Mr. Vallee’s song to be a ode to the double standard.

I escaped the ’80s relatively unscathed by synthpop. never even owned a Flock of Seagulls album. Oh, sure, there were some exceptions, but the names escape me now.

ack. In the late 90’s the U of Minn radio station, Radio K, had a show on Sunday afternoons devoted to this kind of stuff. It was called “Cosmic Slop.” My oldest loved it. My eardrums still wince at the memory.

Well, here’s a big surprise. From a BNA Daily Tax Report update that just hit my work inbox:
“White House Threatens Veto of Senate Foreclosure Prevention Bill
Posted Feb. 26, 2008, 5:10 PM ET
The White House issued a Statement of Administration Policy Feb. 26 saying the administration would strongly object to many elements of a bill aimed at stimulating the housing sector and curbing the wave of home foreclosures throughout the nation.
The bill (H.R. 3221), which will be amended on the Senate floor by substituting the text of the Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008 (S. 2636), would allow money-losing businesses to seek refunds of taxes paid in recent profitable years and would give states the ability to sell tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds for the purposes of helping homeowners refinance to avoid foreclosure.
While President Bush has previously voiced support for those provisions, the White House said it would object to language in the bill that would change bankruptcy laws to make it more difficult for lenders to seize homes. (emphasis added)
The White House also said it strongly opposes the bill’s proposed expansion of a program to allow state and local governments to buy abandoned and foreclosed homes, saying it is both costly and “would constitute a bailout for lenders and speculators, while doing little to help struggling homeowners.”
Morons.

*pleh* Do. Not. Want.
As regards the wedding announcement of Miss Goodling from the last thread, all I can add is she and her fiance are the human equivalent of a mayo on white-bread sandwich.
Bless their hearts.

I remember the synth-pop era, indeed, from time to time I wake up in a sweat believing I’m in the middle of a Wa Wa Nee set. Don’t believe me? See for yourself

Since we were talking about Klaus earlier, his version of “I Feel Love” kicks ass. Unfortunately, I can only find this 30 sec. mp3 clip of it.

And let’s not forget Neil Young’s sad attempt at synth pop in 1982.

Hi folks
My wife and I have our sixth wedding anniversary coming up soon and I usually get her expensive designer clothes. Unfortunately I recently lost my job and I haven’t told her know yet. I was thinking of buying her something from a Replica Handbags store but am afraid that it might be morally wrong?
What do you guys think? Please post honest comments.

Hello people,
I’ve been thinking of getting one, and before I do I wanted to ask if you think this article about slim fast shake is accurate or not?
I want to make sure before I make a purchase…
Thanks!
