What Republicans Do Instead of Sex

crazy eyes mccain

They have inappropriately close relationships with corporate lobbyists.

BREAKING from the NYT:

The lobbyist, a partner at the firm Alcalde & Fay, represented telecommunications companies for whom Mr. McCain’s commerce committee was pivotal. Her clients contributed tens of thousands of dollars to his campaigns.

Mr. Black said Mr. McCain and Ms. Iseman were friends and nothing more. But in 1999 she began showing up so frequently in his offices and at campaign events that staff members took notice. One recalled asking, “Why is she always around?”

That February, Mr. McCain and Ms. Iseman attended a small fund-raising dinner with several clients at the Miami-area home of a cruise-line executive and then flew back to Washington along with a campaign aide on the corporate jet of one of her clients, Paxson Communications. By then, according to two former McCain associates, some of the senator’s advisers had grown so concerned that the relationship had become romantic that they took steps to intervene.

A former campaign adviser described being instructed to keep Ms. Iseman away from the senator at public events, while a Senate aide recalled plans to limit Ms. Iseman’s access to his offices.

In interviews, the two former associates said they joined in a series of confrontations with Mr. McCain, warning him that he was risking his campaign and career. Both said Mr. McCain acknowledged behaving inappropriately and pledged to keep his distance from Ms. Iseman. The two associates, who said they had become disillusioned with the senator, spoke independently of each other and provided details that were corroborated by others.

Is it an affair?  Or just two randy Reich Wingers getting together to bump bank accounts under the covers?

You be the judge.

    Wow, wow, wowie wow wow!

This has shaken me out of my doldrums!!

  6. By newdealfarmgrrrlll on Feb 20, 2008 8:17 pm |

me too, LL. I was kinda in the post-job-interview doldrums, and now this! Wheeee!

  7. By TRex on Feb 20, 2008 8:19 pm |

    Delightful!

Well, I guess that seals it. The Republicans are toast. Toastier than toast. They’re, like, burnt toast. Time to abandon the scraping and just throw them into the trash.

ndfg, I hope that interview went well — I was sending out virtual good vibes to you when I read about it (yesterday?)

I may have to change the photo at the top of this post. His eyes seem to be following me everywhere I go in the room. Can you imagine that on top of you, huffing and puffing as he strains to blow a load? Ewwwwwwwww. No wonder Cindy eats pills by the handful.

brain bleach STAT!. Blergh! TRex, that was an image to give me nightmares. Blergh!

TREX, Put a picture of the friend up. She looks like a younger Mrs. McCain.

  12. By newdealfarmgrrrlll on Feb 20, 2008 8:42 pm |

thank you, LL! I think it went well, but i never can tell. I think it would be a good company to work for even tho its a bit of a commute. I’ll know next week, they’re interviewing eight or nine people. Luckily my background fits exactly with what they’re looking for.

  13. By Man in the Mists on Feb 20, 2008 8:45 pm |

Geez Trex. What are you trying to do, dull peoples’ horror at the Coulterwurm by providing even more horrific examples?

I was out standing in the darn cold watching a quarter of the moon disappear … and wondering if McCain’s political life is disappearing even quicker … now for some warm beverage …

So what the hell IS that thing growing out of the side of McCain’s face?

And what’s with the total media silence on it? You’d think that a press corp that documents Hillary’s every wrinkle could at least take note of the fact that the man seems to be sprouting a second head.

Um … they all know that it’s from surgery he had to remove a tumor … and that one might be growing again …

The thought of Mad Dog getting his freak on is unsettling.

I know I’m going to have nightmares tonight — and not the fun, naughty ones.

Heh, heh. This scandal has something for everybody: sex, naked hypocrisy, an obvious conflict of interests, and the potential to expand into money as well. Schadenfreudelicious!

  28. By Steve on Feb 20, 2008 10:27 pm |

Another possible example of the “Coolidge Effect” or “Old Cow-New Cow”.

  29. By madmommy on Feb 20, 2008 10:36 pm |

So, this is an interesting thing to come home to! What kind of MSM play is this getting? I am so behind, all from sitting at the car dealership for 3 hours. *pleh*

Just wondering if this is gonna get swept under the rug along with the Keating scandal, and the stealing of drugs from the charity scandal, and the married man cheating with his now wife scandal. That Oriental is getting mighty lumpy!

Saw the “cookie monster effect” of the eclipse, that’s the way the big kid described it!

  30. By burnspbesq on Feb 20, 2008 10:36 pm |

And lest we forget, McCain was up to his strangely shaped eyebrows in the Keating Five scandal.

Seen one crony capitalist, seen them all. Adam Smith warned us about this over 200 years ago, but did we pay attention? Nuh-uh.

  31. By burnspbesq on Feb 20, 2008 10:46 pm |

And note how quickly all traces of Ms. Iseman’s existence have been purged from her employer’s website.
