It’s a Problem With the Limbic Brain
In the clip above, from “Countdown”, Janeane Garofalo makes the most painfully accurate, devastating assessment of the Right Wing mind ever to appear in Teh Mainstream Media:
JANEANE GAROFALO: Thank you. You know, there’s nothing more interesting than seeing a bunch of racists become confused and angry at a speech they’re not quite certain what he’s saying. It sounds right and then it doesn’t make sense. Which, let’s be very honest about what this is about. It’s not about bashing Democrats, it’s not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don’t know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. And there is no way around that. And you know, you can tell these type of right wingers anything and they’ll believe it, except the truth. You tell them the truth and they become — it’s like showing Frankenstein’s monster fire. They become confused, and angry and highly volatile. That guy, causing them feelings they don’t know, because their limbic brain, we’ve discussed this before, the limbic brain inside a right-winger or Republican or conservative or your average white power activist, the limbic brain is much larger in their head space than in a reasonable person, and it’s pushing against the frontal lobe. So their synapses are misfiring.
And that goes a long way toward explaining a couple of the conversations I’ve had with Republicans over the last few days.
As well as this bug-eyed, epic meltdown by perennially shouty Jim Cramer:
That guy’s a piece of work, isn’t he? How come all the Right Wing demagogues have such high, screamy voices anyway? I’m looking at you, Sean Hannity.
This Friday video roundup has been brought to you by the fact that I’m feeling too lazy to do much more than cut and paste after swimming laps today.

Ha! I told you Janeane was awesome yesterday. She completely nailed the diagnosis, I think: acute hyperdistended limbii wingnuttia.
The only known cure involves the administering regular doses of ridicule and mockery, and threatening them with a pointed stick.

Personally I think that the racism angle was overplayed. The part about the right wing believing anything but the truth was point on. It was more about having a democrat in office than anything else. Do you think that the reaction would have been any different if Hillary or Edward had won?.
Still it amazes me with the speed that the lunatic fringe of the right has come out.

I disagree. I think the intensity of the right wing bullshit has lot to do with Obama’s skin tone. What is that old saying? A redneck is a redneck is a redneck.

G’day T - good to have the regular snark fix once again. How are things? How are the kitties, the stop smoking campaign?
Things are good downunder, Mrs Downunder and I have a new 10 week old border collie puppy who is very cute but a handful. Already smarter than the average Teabagger.
What is with those people? From this distance it really looks like that scene from Roi De Couer (Alan Bates, late 60’s. great film) where the inmates of the asylum take over the town; only the movie nut cases were actually the sane ones.

I thought it was the right that was out to roll back scientific knowledge and freedom. Yet here’s Janeane Garofolo positing both a nonsensical phrenology, and the Stalinist idea of calling the enemy brain-damaged or insane.

Garofalo is a celebrity, and as such has to tailor her message to please her fans. So it shouldn’t be a shock that she goes over the top at times.
Glad to see someone here admitting that the comment was a part of a campaign of mockery rather than something logical or rational. It’s meant to ridicule opponents who, especially in the case of outraged taxpayers, have something important to say and can’t really be attacked otherwise.
The next time someone makes fun of Rush Limbaugh’s absurdities, I’ll remember the glowing praise Garofalo receives.

She may have been using tongue in cheek humor, but many a true word is spoken in jest. I’ve said for years that there’s something wrong with rightwingers. I don’t think they were hugged enough by their mothers.
There have been some scientific studies that found (inadvertently) that there was a correlation between needy emotionally underdeveloped toddlers growing into right wing conservatives. I’m just sayin’
