There Aren’t Any Words Bad Enough
…to describe this ad.
I was standing there on Thanksgiving Day in my mom’s kitchen stirring a bowl she handed me and I happened to look over my shoulder at the TeeVee and my jaw just dropped. Chambliss, the veteran-smearing, possible Diebold-colluding, Imperial Sugar Fire Coverup(-ing?) jackass, bless his heart, had crossed the thin bright line of victim campaigning and snatched his tiny, rosy-cheeked, flaxen-haired grandchildren up as human shields…and then…it just went all David Lynch. “Vaah-ote fer mah Beeg Dahh-iddy,” they drawled and…
I’ll let Wonkette take over here.
How could we let Thanksgiving end without sharing C.S.A. Colonel Saxby Chambliss and family’s warm regards? What a lovely surprise! And the children! They tell us to vote for their “Big Daddy,” gross. “Big Daddy” responds with a white-knuckled clench of the little girl’s breast.
And as turkey gravy dripped from my wooden spoon, I thought, “My god, we’re going to lose to this guy. This small-town, tobacco-skeetin’, suspender-wearing shyster who looks like one of these rubber squeezy dolls:
…is going to win this run-off.”
And that’s just sad.
If you live in Georgia, PLEASE vote tomorrow.

Hey Trex- I was about to ask you if you’ve voted yet, before I saw this new post.
I am voting tomorrow. Should be pretty easy. No big lines.
But, I fear, along with you that Saxby will win. Pray for a miracle.

I am.
I wuz gonna say, “Lord — if you will ONLY let Chambliss lose after that godawful bitch showed up there today to “close the deal” for him, thereby sealing the kiss of death forevermore on her disgusting political ambitions, I will never ever EVER doubt Your existence for a millisecond again, EVER.”
THEN…..I thought how we were saved…….from HER, in the Cheney-seat.
And I said, “Well, um, Lord…..in my humble opinion it would be really GREAT if Martin wins tomorrow……but I guess You know what You are doing, so I’ll just leave it at that.”

And, TRex, I was shopping in that place of places on Sunday (Value Village) and heard a really ugly anti-Martin ad on the radio station they were playing- sponsored by the US Chamber of Commerce.
I had totally missed the activities of the C of C, here and elsewhere, but I happened on this article earlier.

Quote that follows is ~2/3 of the way down in the linked article.
~~~The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has spent more than $1 million on advertising in the state. It fears that if Democrats won a 60-seat Senate majority, they would pass a bill making it easier for unions to form in businesses. Under the so-called “card check” legislation, companies would recognize unions if a majority of workers signed cards saying they favored a union, replacing the traditional method of a secret ballot among workers.
The AFL-CIO said it is sending 10,000 volunteers to Georgia in the final week to drive the union vote. There are about 325,000 union voters in the state, which could make a difference in a low-turnout election.~~~
Got to love those Republican family values. Never presented any clearer than in this video. Saw it right before Thanksgiving and it took me a full 3 minutes to pull my jaw off the desk.
Holy smokes, that’s some teeny tittie toucheration going on thar.
Chambliss certainly seems to have a grasp of the tissues.
There’s always hope. Who knows, maybe all the Dawg fans are still so depressed about losing to Tech that they won’t be able to get out of bed to go vote for ol’ Saxby tomorrow.
One great comfort is that Saxby Chambliss has ensured himself a hot spot in hell for his Anti-Max Cleland ad and is likely to be poked by extra pitchforks for fondling his grand=daughter on camera.
I’m pulling for the sane in GA to get to the polls tomorrow so that he can contemplate his eternal damnation somewhere other than the Senate.
Why is the old man groping the pubescent girl? Why did his media people allow this on camera? How creepy is this?!?!
My thought exactly. Whether this was an innocent slip (???) or a Freudian one, I cannot believe his media people let this damn thing go out. It is simply a horrendously bad image and stupid politics.
Finally back up after T’giving, and had some rough moments at the family feed (Saturday, as it was Dad’s birthday, and the only day we could all get together): my fundie sister knew and worked under Jim Martin when he was the state Dept. Family and Children’s Services, and she really, really hates him. Apparently he told her and some other managers (and she was over several N. Georgia counties, and dang, I pity any poor person who came to her asking for public assistance) that he would not reclassify their positions (for a net effect of a rather higher salary)(at a time when the state was slashing jobs and salaries), and that they should stop complaining. She was really angry, and when I said I can’t vote for Chambliss as I can’t vote for someone who tells obvious lies about his opponents, she started yelling “Martin is a jerk! He talks about being in VietNam, and all he was was in Intelligence! And you know what they did!” (I have no idea what she meant.)”And he’s never worked a day in his life, just been a ‘Child Advocate” and lobbyist!” She raved on for a bit, literally spraying spittle. I finally told her it was too late, as I had early voted, and she didn’t speak to me until it was time to leave with a sulky ‘good by’.
Chambliss may very well get back in, and we need to really, really examine the work of the bastard. He need to return to the golf course. His commercials alone are criminal…
Finally found this post again. That image has been bothering me. And the creepiest bit - that seems to have passed without comment so far - is that the girl shows absolutely zero reaction. Nada. Nor is there any reaction from the rest of the family. Which strongly suggests he does this kind of stuff all the time.
What on Earth were the PR folks thinking, to let this out? Are they also so used to it they don’t notice it any more?
